Even in the wilderness, you meet a lot of people along a 2,168 mile beaten path. Here you'll find pictures of fellow thru-hikers and other folks Rabbit encounters along the way. Some friendships will be fast, some fleeting, but all add to the unique experience that is hiking the AT.
Brian Shaw -- (Helen, GA) Nachooche Grill waiter and Trail Angel extraordinaire. Brian gave his car keys to Creeper and Rabbit when they needed a ride back to the hotel.
Freebird/Firebird (?) and Dimples -- Two young guys from Indiana who were among the first thru-hikers Rabbit and Creeper met.
Steady and Slow -- ("slow and steady." Get it?) Kansas City couple Rabbit and Creeper have seen at several points along the way. Slow's first campout was when they started the AT.
Jeff -- (a different one) runs an outfitter with Dorothy in Neel's Gap and spent over four hours helping Rabbit select the new boots that will carry him to Maine.
Powerbar -- Doing laundry in Helen, GA
Big Daddy and Little Buddy -- Hit the trail together after Dad lost his wife and job.
Serge Zwicker -- No trail name for the former UNC basketball star from Holland (Bigfoot?). Here he poses with Rabbit's Carolina handkerchief.
Joe and Paul -- From CA, Joe (12) is hiking the AT with his brother (22) as part of home-school education. In evenings, hikers get to hear Paul (who Rabbit first identified as Mark) play violin.
